Zeritu Kebede
Zeritu Kebede (born 19 February 1984) is an Ethiopian singer, songwriter, actress, screenwriter. A prominent figure in modern Ethiopian music, especially in the era of 2000s, she is known for energetic pop and rock hits.
Born in Addis Ababa, she grew up in Gullele neighborhood and spent most of time with enjoying with her hobby and entertainment, eventually pursuing her music career. She used to listen collection of records and cassettes from her parents of various local and foreign singers, collecting their cassette. Her debut album Zeritu released in 2005, was widely acclaimed album, mostly produced by Elias Melka. Zeritu began touring afterward within Ethiopia and abroad.
In addition to music career, she invested in film career, starring in numerous Ethiopian films such as Kemis Yelebesku'let (2014) and Pagumen 7 (2017). Because of her upbringing with spiritual household, Zeritu interested to religious music, becoming Protestant.
