Billie Ray Martin
Billie Ray Martin is a singer-songwriter and artist based in Germany, best known for her single "Your Loving Arms", which reached the top 10 of the UK singles chart (#6) and the Irish Singles Chart (#8), reached No. 1 in Italy and No. 1 on the Dance Club Chart in 1995.
Before her solo releases, Martin appeared as one of the vocalists on the S'Express UK top 10 hit single "Hey Music Lover" (1989). As lead vocalist of Electribe 101 she had UK top 40 hits with "Tell Me When the Fever Ended" (1989) and "Talking with Myself" (1990). Their album "Electribal Memories" peaked at #26 in the UK. She sang the chorus vocals on Julian Jonah's "It's A Jungle Out There", which made #22 on the US Dance charts.
During Martin's stay on the Magnet label, she released the album "Deadline For My Memories" (1995, UK 46), including the five singles taken from it, "Your Loving Arms" and "Running Around Town" (UK #29), "Imitation of Life" (UK #29), "Space Oasis (UK #66) and "You and I (Keep Holding On) (UK #76).
In the 90s, several uncredited singles with Martin's songs and vocals emerged. In 1995, "Sky High", released under the pseudonym Individual, rose to No. 18 in the project's native Italy and made No. 9 in the UK Dance chart, as Voices present Individual. Datura's "Devotion" made No. 7 (1993), "Mystic Motion" No. 4 (1996) and "Passion" No. 14 (1997) in the group's native Italy in 1996.
Martin's 1999 "Honey" single rose to No. 12 on the UK Dance chart. The 2003 remix release of "Honey" rose to #1 on the World Dance/Trance charts and No. 4 on the Dance Club Chart. In 2004, "Bright Lights Fading", written by Martin and performed by Slam feat. Billie Ray Martin, made No. 6 on the UK Dance charts via inclusion on the 3B4Zero EP. In 2005, "Je Regrette Everything", written by Martin and performed by Hell feat. Billie Ray Martin, made No. 13 on the UK Dance charts. In 2012, her "Undisco Me" rose to No. 12 on the World Dance/Trance charts and to No. 20 on the US Dance chart. In 2016, Martin's "The Glittering Gutter" made No. 8 in US Dance/Club Chart.
